At the same time, a tan 2015 Chevrolet Equinox was turning left from the westbound lane of Ann. Eyewitnesses told the investigators that Bernstein II ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into the right side of the vehicle. The impact of the collision ejected the man from the bike, leaving him with substantial injuries.
Responding medics transported the motorcyclist to UMC Trauma Center, where he succumbed to his injuries, and medical personnel pronounced him dead. While investigating the crash, the NHP discovered that the Yamaha was reported stolen but did not release the owner’s information.
The collision is the 22nd fatal crash in the NHP’s Southern Command. To keep the number from increasing, drivers and motorcycle riders must exercise more care when on the road, drive within the legal speed limit of each roadway, obey all stop signs or traffic lights, and only go through intersections when they have the right of way.
