The motorcycle’s driver, identified only as a 37-year-old Everett man, might have been intoxicated at the time of the crash, according to a Washington State Patrol report. If so, he likely will need to solicit the services of a drunk driving lawyer.
Troopers said the man at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday was northbound on Interstate 5 in Snohomish County when he lost control of his vehicle near 164th Street Southwest. The motorcycle veered off the road and crashed, ejecting both riders, according to crash reports.
Emergency medical services workers were called to the scene, but Dawn Allen reportedly died from her injuries before she could be transported to a hospital. Her husband was taken to an Everett trauma center to be treated for serious injuries.
Authorities have not yet announced and criminal charges or citations as a result of the crash. But troopers have reported that they believe intoxicants might have been factors in the incident.
The investigation continues by the Washington State Patrol. If authorities due pursue charges – possibly driving under the influence and vehicular homicide – the husband might need to hire a drunk driving lawyer.
