Wright and Milliman at about 3 p.m. Friday were working on a farm trailer on the eastbound side of Cody Esty Road near Nine Mile Road, according to car accident reports. While they were working, a driver heading west on Cody Estey Road crossed the roadway’s centerline and drove into the eastbound lane.
The driver struck both Wright and Milliman with his vehicle, according to car accident reports. The driver, identified by investigators only as a 23-year-old man from Rhodes, was not wounded.
Wright died at the scene of the crash before he could receive treatment for his wounds, emergency medical personnel reported. Milliman was transported to an area hospital where he later died, car accident reports state.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the incident. The reasons for the driver crossing the centerline still are under investigation, though authorities said they do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the incident.
Authorities have not filed any charges or citations as a result of the crash.
