Sons at about 4:10 a.m. Thursday was driving on Cherry Bark Lane near Hanging Rock Road when he lost control of his van, troopers said in car accident reports. Sons’ vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree, authorities said.
Sons was evaluated at the scene by emergency medical personnel. He ultimately was airlifted to a local trauma center for treatment of life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Troopers did not provide an updated condition report Thursday evening.
Car accident reports released by the Illinois Police on Thursday do not provide many details about what might have led to the crash. Also unclear is whether factors like speed, inattentive driving or intoxication might have been contributing causes in the wreck, and reports do not state whether anyone else was in Sons’ vehicle at the time.
Troopers said they are continuing to investigate the incident. No charges or citations have been announced, though more details likely will be included in future car accident reports.
