Strudwick was driving at high speed in a ’97 BMW when he lost control as he tried to negotiate a curve on the descending roadway. The young driver crashed through a metal gate when he crossed over the northbound lanes.
The CHP said that the gate went through the driver’s side of the BMW and came out at the door of the rear right passenger side. Strudwick sustained extensive traumatic injuries, and the medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
A passenger in the wrecked vehicle identified as a 21-year-old male from Diamond Bar sustained moderate injuries. The medics took the man to the hospital for treatment, and there’s no additional information on his condition.
The accident report also showed that the CHP Baldwin Park Area Office wants witnesses to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. The authorities used the accident to reemphasize to drivers the significance of driving within the speed limit and obeying traffic laws and signs.
