Schneider had been staying there with his girlfriend and her mother for a memorial for his girlfriend’s brother.
The family of the victim alleges that the rental did not have a fire alarm equipped in the home.
The fire eventually spread to surrounding brush, forcing evacuation warnings in the area. Firefighters with the LA County Fire Department eventually stopped its spread after four acres of land were burned.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. We will update this blog if more details come to light.
