BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Kern County coroner’s office has identified the two men killed in a suspected DUI crash in Bakersfield on Sunday morning.
According to The Bakersfield Californian, the crash occurred at the intersection of Union Avenue and Brundage Lane around 2:17 a.m.

46-year-old Guadalupe Aguilar Monreal and 52-year-old Saul Chavez Muniz were named as the victims. Authorities say the men were in a vehicle that was struck at the intersection by another vehicle driven by 35-year-old Jesus Moran Mendoza of Bakersfield.
Bakersfield PD’s news release stated that two other adult motorists were critically injured and rushed to nearby hospitals.
Officers suspected that Mendoza was under the influence and arrested him for two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter and two counts of driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury.
The circumstances of the collision are still being investigated by BPD’s Major Collision Investigation Team.
