Initial accident reports done by the Texas Department of Public Safety indicated that a 2016 Ford pickup was traveling north on Farm-to-Market 1416 and a 2004 Chevrolet pickup was traveling southbound. For reasons unknown, the driver of the Chevrolet pickup crossed the center line and collided with the Ford pickup head-on.

The driver of the Ford was identified as 63-year-old Andy Hubbard of Bon Weir. Hubbard was transported from the accident to Jasper Memorial Hospital with what were indicated to be serious injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet truck that caused the accident was identified as 17-year-old Conner Mitchell of Bon Weir. The teenager had to be transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital due to injuries that were considered to be life-threatening.

The Texas Department of Public Safety did confirm that Mitchell ended up dying from the injuries he sustained in the accident after arriving at the hospital. This was confirmed by medical personnel.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is considering this an ongoing investigation. There has not been a cause identified as to why the teenager crossed the centerline, causing the collision. There have been no updates, as of yet, on the condition of Hubbard after the accident.

The police urge anyone who may have information regarding the accident to come forward.

Updates will be provided as they become available regarding the cause of the accident and the condition of the surviving victim.
