BAKERSFIELD, CA – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol were forced to shut down lanes on I-5 following an auto vs. semi-truck collision Tuesday night.
According to KGET, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of I-5 along Grapevine Creek around 10 p.m.

Investigators say the collision occurred when the unknown driver of a car fell asleep behind the wheel and collided with a semi-truck.
The driver sustained only minor injuries as a result of the crash. No other injuries were reported.
The northbound lanes were closed for about an hour while the collision was investigated and cleared from the roadway.
