On Thursday, May 4th, the Glendale Police Department arrested Collin Jones, 18, two weeks after he struck and fatally injured a child in Glendale, Arizona. Officers arrested the suspect after finding probable cause that made him liable for the accident.
The initial crash report showed that on Thursday, May 21st, a family was riding their bikes north on the east side of 70th Avenue, north of Theresa Drive. The victim, a 3-year-old boy, was being pulled by his dad in a child bike trailer. The GPD said Jones, driving a white Jeep heading south, then struck the child and his mother.

A nearby nurse ran to the scene and performed CPR on the child, and the paramedics took over when they arrived. They used an air ambulance to transport the child to a local hospital where the medical personnel pronounced him dead. The suspect left the scene, and the police found his car a short distance away.
The CPD said that Jones told investigators that he drifted too far to the left and jerked the wheel back to the right. He felt his tires drive into the gravel, but saw nothing and heard nothing when he looked up. The police used evidence at the crash site and video surveillance to determine the suspect’s liability.
The teenager is facing one count of manslaughter and one count of failure to stop after a collision that results in death. He is also facing one count for leaving the scene of an injury accident and would need a car injury attorney for legal advice and representation.
