The victim, 35-year-old Isaac Noel Escobedo, passed away on May 6 because of injuries sustained in the accident that occurred around 10 p.m. in the 12900 block of Montana Avenue.
Investigations revealed that Escobedo was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle when a Ford Mustang crashed into the rear and left the scene.
There was no indication that impairment by drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, speed was said to be a contributing factor.
Deputies were able to track down the vehicle and they took Caudill into custody. His charge was upgraded after Escobedo passed away.
Caudill was taken to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility where he was held on a $551,000 bond. Previously, he was held on a $50,000 bond.
The prosecution will have to must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they acted recklessly and caused the death of another person.
Manslaughter is a second-degree felony in Texas. If Caudill is convicted, he could spend between two and 20 years in a state prison. He could also have to pay a fine of up to $10,000.
If there are further accident reports on this crash, an update will be provided.
