The investigators said that the victim’s car hit a crosswalk control post and continued through a yard before striking a tree. The man died at the crash site, and the paramedics pronounced him. The ISP and the coroner’s office are leading the investigation.
Motor vehicle accidents occur for otherwise avoidable reasons, and drivers can prevent them by following the safety tips released by law enforcement or traffic authorities. Some of the recommendations include leaving at least four seconds of space between vehicles when on the roadway.
Don’t talk on the cellphone while driving as phones distract a person’s ability to concentrate on the road and increase the chances of a collision by nearly 400%. Pullover to a safe, well-lit parking lot to make a call, and only continue at the end of the conversation.
If the car stalls on the road, remain inside and put on the hazard lights to increase visibility. Call for help and wait for the relevant authorities to arrive.
