On getting there, the firemen discovered that the fire affected only a bedroom in the house located in the 700-block of Benson Way. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said that the residents of the house put out the fire before the firefighters arrived.
The authorities determined that the fire appeared suspicious and arson investigators from the sheriff’s office and the fire department opened an investigation. Their findings led them to conclude the incident was arson, and they named Seifert as a suspect.
The police then took the man into custody and booked him into the Ventura County Jail on the charge of felony arson and elder abuse. Seifert’s bail is set at $60 000, and according to his jail record, he will appear before the Ventura County Superior Court at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21st.
The investigators did not state what made the fire incident suspicious, and they have not released additional information at the time of this report. If found guilty of the offenses, the suspect is looking at time behind bars.
