El Paso police said Madrid at 6:45 p.m. Saturday was driving north on Rushing Road near Sun Valley Drive when he lost control of his motorcycle while turning. Madrid’s motorcycle hit a curb and crossed a sidewalk before striking a cinder block wall, according to authorities.
“Madrid was traveling at a high rate of speed and was unable to negotiate a curve in the road,” El Paso police said in a press release.
Madrid was ejected from his motorcycle and suffered injuries at the time that were deemed to be “life-threatening,” according to the release. No other vehicles were involved and no additional injuries were reported.
No accident reports were available Tuesday to provide more details about the incident.
According to the press release, El Paso has recorded 21 traffic fatalities in 2020. At this point in 2019, the city had seen just 14 deaths as a result of traffic incidents.
