The CHP said that Flores traveled in one of the vehicles involved. A good samaritan identified as William Eberly rushed the victim to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment. There is no update on her condition.
The investigators said that alcohol or drugs do not appear to have contributed to the accident. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
A multiple-vehicle collision occurs when more than two cars collide. It is one of the most common types of road accidents, and the others are single-vehicle crashes and two-vehicle collisions.
Factors leading to the trio are similar, and they are preventable if drivers obey traffic rules and regulations and follow safety tips. Some of the latter include maintaining a single travel lane; when traveling on a two-lane roadway, stick to the right, and enter the left when attempting to pass or turn into the opposite lane.
Avoid weaving in and out of traffic, obey stop and exit signs, and observe before passing an intersection. Avoid wrong-way driving, tailgating, and wait for the light to turn green before passing through an intersection.
