52-year-old Martin Santos of Ontario would need the expertise of a car accident lawyer after getting detained by the California Highway Patrol on Tuesday night, July 28th. The man was involved in an accident with a single fatality on 210 Freeway in the San Bernardino area of California.
The CHP said they detained the suspect after determining that he was under the influence of alcohol. The crash report showed that the incident started at approximately 11:53 p.m. with a disabled Toyota Camry at the gore point of the freeway at the Waterman Avenue off-ramp.

Officers said that at the same time, Santos drove a Lexus SUV in the No. 4 or slow lane. The man then swerved into the right, slammed into the Toyota, and went on to strike the woman standing near the driver’s side. An oncoming black Kia Sedona joined the wreck by hitting the victim and crashing into the suspect’s car.
When firefighters from the San Bernardino Fire Department and paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the woman unresponsive and pronounced her dead. They identified her as a 42-year-old Highland woman and will release her name after notifying the next-of-kin.
Santos is in custody on suspicion of DUI and murder. The CHP closed all the freeway lanes while carrying out a preliminary investigation and cleared the scene of debris. The inquiry remains active, and the investigators will release an update at a later time.
