The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office disclosed in a press briefing that the woman who killed one person and injured another in a crash in Long Beach, California, has been sentenced to 13 years imprisonment. Charlette Colton, received the sentence on Wednesday, August 26th.
The woman pleaded no contest to one count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury within ten years of another DUI with great bodily harm and hit-and-run, causing death or severe injury. The sentencing happened immediately after the plea.

The District Attorney’s office said that Colton fled the March 24th accident scene on Del Amo Boulevard and Locust Avenue. The accident report disclosed that the fatal victim, Bryan Bogan, 61, of Long Beach, passed away on April 4th from his injuries.
A 71-year-old man from Torrance suffered severe injuries but survived. The victims were in the number three lane of westbound Del Amo, standing between a 1996 Honda Accord and a 1996 Mercedes-Benz E320. They were removing towing equipment.
Simultaneously, Colton traveled west on the same roadway in a 2000 Dodge Caravan that struck the back of the Accord. The Long Beach Police said that the vehicle pushed forward, and sideswiped a nearby parked vehicle before colliding with Bogan and the other pedestrian.
The woman stepped out of the Dodge, ran from the scene on foot, but didn’t go far before officers apprehended her. The DA initially charged Colton with murder and four DUI offenses, including one that stated that she had a prior DUI conviction from 2012.
