The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident call on April 17, close to 2:45 a.m. The accident happened within the 1800 block of Vine Street in Danville, Illinois, after a single-vehicle accident occurred.
Police are still trying to piece together the details of a single-car accident that occurred when 43-year-old Carrie Nixon of Danville ended up putting her car into a deep ravine along Vine Street.

From the preliminary investigation, police have concluded that Nixon was driving her vehicle eastbound on Vine Street when she lost control of the vehicle. She ended up striking a utility pole before the car ended up at the bottom of a deep ravine.
The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene of the single-vehicle accident. The coroner pronounced Nixon dead at the scene of the accident.
It is not clear at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident. Pending an autopsy for the cause of death, authorities have not voiced speculation as to what caused Nixon to lose control of her vehicle.
Nixon’s identity was withheld initially until the next of kin could be notified of the accident and subsequent death.
The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Office and the Vermilion County Coroner are currently still investigating the accident. It is unclear at this time what they have found regarding the single-car accident. There will be updates released as more details become apparent in the accident.
