Initial accident calls led the Atlanta Police Department to believe there were two separate accidents. When they arrived at the scene, they found that one car had caused a massive pile-up.

All of the victims in the accident were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. Their injuries have been classified as non-life threatening. Holyfield is currently in the detention area at Grady Memorial because of the accident.

Once Holyfield is medically cleared for release, police will escort him to the Fulton County Jail.

Preliminary charges against Holyfield have been confirmed as DUI-Less Safe, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, no license on person at the scene of the accident and following too closely.

The entire accident is currently being investigated by the Atlanta Police Department. Names of the individuals involved have not been released.

A first offense DUI-Less Safe charge in Georgia is often charged as a misdemeanor offense. If this is Holyfield’s first offense and he is convicted, he could be facing imprisonment for up to 1 year. A fine up to $1000 may be added to his conviction.

DUI-Less Safe can be charged regardless of someone’s actual blood-alcohol level. The police officer issuing the charge just has to prove that the person was a less safe driver due to the consumption.

With the injuries caused, it is possible that Holyfield will be facing a harsher punishment. The installation of an ignition interlock device after license suspension is a possibility.

Police have not released the condition of Holyfield or the level of his blood-alcohol content.
