Dingman overcorrected the vehicle to the left, losing control as he skidded back across the road. His Toyota then went into the ditch on the north side of the road, where it struck a utility pole on the driver’s side of the van.
As a result of the impact with Dingman’s van, the utility pole was destroyed. Dingman’s vehicle came to rest, facing the correct direction next to the utility pole.
The Ochiltree County Justice of the Peace Braden Karber was called to the scene of the accident by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Dingman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident from the injuries he sustained in the collision with the utility pole.
Reports did not indicate if Dingman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Police have not spoken of any suspicion of drugs or alcohol being a factor in the accident. The Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating the accident.
