According to car accident reports, Wright at about 3 a.m. Saturday was driving east in westbound lanes in the 2600 block of Interstate 10. She eventually collided with a westbound vehicle, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
“When officers arrived (at the scene of the crash) the driver of the Nissan (identified later as Wright) was unresponsive and later pronounced deceased by Beaumont EMS,” Beaumont police wrote in a press release.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported by emergency medical personnel to an area hospital for treatment of injuries described as “major,” according to car accident reports. Police did not provide an updated condition report Sunday evening and it wasn’t clear from investigative reports whether either driver has a passenger at the time of the wreck.
The incident remains under investigation by the Beaumont Police Department. Preliminary reports don’t include a theory of what caused the wreck, such as speed, intoxication or inattentive driving.
Friends and family members of Wright’s posted memorials to her on social media channels.
“I’m lost for words right now,” wrote a man who called Wright his “beautiful niece.” “Lord, give my sister and mother strength right now.”
