Auto-bicycle collisions are not as frequent as other forms of accidents. But they are dangerous with the bicyclist ending up the fatal victim in most instances. Thus, bicycle riders must protect themselves by practicing safe riding behaviors when cycling and abiding by the road’s rules.
When riding, cyclists must ensure that they have a helmet safely fastened on their heads, keep their heads up and look ahead, not at the ground or other distracting elements. Unless it is a passenger bike, riders should avoid carrying another person, and when in a group, they should ride in a single file with space in between their bicycles. Additionally, avoid riding against traffic, stick to the right side of the road, and develop a plan when in a group.
