The woman failed to yield as a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup approached the intersection. The second vehicle struck the left side of the van, leaving the driver and two of her passengers injured. Williams and Burch — one of her passengers — passed away at the scene, and the medics pronounced them dead at about 4:40 p.m.
They transported a second passenger, who remains unidentified, to Baylor Scott and White in stable condition. The driver and the passenger of the Dodge sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. There is no additional information.
Failure to yield is one of the causes of traffic collisions. In Texas, it is a traffic offense, and a person found guilty of it in a court of law faces the punishment of a fine not less than $500 and not more than $2000 if there is bodily injury involved. The offender would also get points on his or her driver’s license.
