The Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Arlington Police Chief Julie Flaherty said that Proctor and a 32-year-old unnamed woman suffered different degrees of injuries. The medics took the two to a local hospital where the man passed away while receiving treatment.
The woman survived with non-life-threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation by the police uncovered that moments before the crash, a Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 20-year-old Cambridge male, was heading west on Massachusetts Avenue.
At the same time, Proctor and the female bicyclist were heading east on the same roadway. The authorities did not release the details of what led to the crash, but they admitted that the Hyundai driver remained at the scene and cooperated with their investigation.
The officers found a loaded shotgun in the trunk of the vehicle. The young man will appear at the Cambridge District Court at an undisclosed date to answer to a charge of possession of a loaded shotgun or rifle in a vehicle. The authorities did not state if the driver would get cited or charged for the accident.
Those involved in auto-bicycle crashes should hire a bicycle accident attorney for legal advice and representation.
