Authorities have disclosed the identity of the motorist who died earlier in the week in a fiery crash involving several vehicles in San Bernardino, California. In a news release on Tuesday, June 2, the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Department said Joseph Mendivil, 37, of San Bernardino, died in the traffic wreck.
The incident played out on the morning of Monday, June 1, in the area of Mountain Avenue and Lynwood Drive. The San Bernardino Police Department deployed officers to the location shortly after 2:15 a.m., the reports confirmed.

Police said several vehicles crossing the intersection at the time collided, causing major traffic disruption. The events which led to the crash remain unclear at this time. The accident reports affirmed that Mendevil was behind the wheels of one of the involved vehicles at the time. He suffered fatal injuries in the traffic collision, and paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene. Additional information about the crash or other parties in the accident is pending.
