BAKERSFIELD, CA – According to KGET, authorities have identified the Lancaster man who was killed in a collision with a truck in Bakersfield on Tuesday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol’s preliminary crash report stated the accident occurred on Copus Road west of State Route 99 around 2:06 p.m. A westbound Kia Rio veered into oncoming traffic and collided with an eastbound Peterbilt truck carrying dry asphalt.

Officers responded to the scene and found both vehicles with major damage. The truck was overturned with asphalt spilled on the roadway.
The driver of the Kia, a 21-year-old Lancaster man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Kern Medical.
All traffic on Copus Road between SR-99 and Interstate 5 was shut down for roughly seven hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
On Wednesday, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office named the victim as Christopher Lewis Durr.
