A woman who is facing several charges for fleeing the scene of an accident in Santa Rosa, California, and taking the police on a chase through the city would need a top accident lawyer. On Monday, June 15th, the Santa Rosa Police Department said in a press briefing that they have Aura Palma, 42, in custody.
The police arrested her on Sunday night, June 14th, on multiple counts of evading arrest, assault with a deadly weapon, and hit-and-run. The investigators said that at about 8 p.m., they received calls from the residents of Corlano Avenue about a suspicious woman knocking on doors.

The callers also said that the woman, whom the police later identified as Palma, a homeless resident of the city, was driving a pink Ford pickup truck. Afterward, an officer spotted the vehicle at the 7-Eleven convenience store at Brookwood and Maple Avenue and pulled in behind to stop her.
The suspect then backed up her truck, collided with the patrol vehicle, and fled the scene. Officers caught her soon after, but Palma went into Bennett Valley Road at 60 mph and drove through Highway 12 Park-and-Ride lot. The woman drove through a chain-link fence at the Veterans Memorial Building and continued recklessly into the parking lot.
At a point, the suspect tried to collide head-on with a patrol car, but the driver evaded it. Eventually, the woman stopped in the parking lot and locked herself inside the Ford. It took officers and crisis negotiators 40 minutes to get her to come out and surrender.
The SRPD said this is the second time they are arresting Palma in recent times. The suspect has pending charges of reckless evading and driving without the owner’s consent after she stole a trailer on May 27th and took the police on a chase. She is currently in Sonoma County Jail on a $50,000 bail bond.
