According to the Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office, the ATV left the roadway and entered into a patch of trees. This was where Klein ended up striking a tree and getting ejected off the all-terrain vehicle.
Based on the report, Klein was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was transported from the scene of the accident to MidMichigan Medical Center-Gratiot in Alma, where personnel pronounced him dead of his injuries.
Klein was the only one on the ATV at the time of the accident, and there were no other people injured in the accident. There were also no witnesses to the accident to offer any more information about the circumstances causing him to leave the roadway.
Police are speculating that alcohol consumption and the rate of speed may have played a factor in the collision.
The Gratiot County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene of the accident by Ashley Fire and Rescue.
At this time, there are no other details regarding the accident, and the investigation is ongoing.
