The man collided with a sand embankment, and the impact ejected him from the vehicle. The sheriff’s office believes that alcohol might have played a role in the occurrence, but it is not conclusive. The investigation remains active.
All-terrain vehicles are generally safe to operate, but like other automobiles, several factors cause the operator to crash. One of the elements is driving an ATV on a paved surface; the vehicle is designed for off-road use only and handles poorly on pavement.
Riding double on an ATV designed to handle only one person, and letting an inexperienced person ride without an experienced rider can also cause a crash. Others are riding without adult supervision, performing dangerous stunts and maneuvers, operating in unfamiliar areas or terrain, and failing to observe state and local guidelines.
During the first month of operating an ATV, an inexperienced rider is 13 times more likely to have an incident than an experienced rider. Thus, operators of the all-terrain vehicle must desist from the above to prevent crashes.
