He is now facing charges of disobeying a stop sign, reckless driving, driving without a valid driver’s license, unlawful use of registration, and operating a vehicle without insurance.
The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire Rescue Department responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash at 21st Street and Hebron Avenue around 3:10 p.m.
Police Chief Kirk Henderson said witnesses reported that Jones was traveling north on Hebron Avenue in a 2011 Nissan Versa.
Henderson said he failed to stop at the stop sign at 21st Street and hit a 2019 Chevrolet Trax that was heading west on 21st Street.
The Trax received significant damage to its front-end and both of the front airbags inflated.
Meanwhile, the Nissan ended up against a Chevrolet Impala that was parked on Hebron Avenue.
The Nissan also sustained significant damage and its front airbags deployed. However, the Impala only suffered minor damage.
Two people were taken to Waukegan’s Vista Medical Center East while the other went to Advocate Condell Medical Center. None of the victims’ injuries appeared to be life-threatening
Henderson said that contrary to rumors being spread on social media, Jones was not driving a stolen vehicle.
He was released from custody on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and court on July 14.
Regardless of the outcome of a criminal case, accident victims can seek advice from a car injury lawyer.
