Witnesses called 911 after an accident occurred at the intersection of Avenue 264 and Road 164 in front of Outside Creek Elementary School on Friday, April 17. The units responded to the scene of the accident at 11 a.m. to find a two-vehicle collision that left one dead, one uninjured, and one passenger fighting for his life just outside of Visalia, California.
Based on the preliminary investigation, Visalia Area California Highway Patrol found a 58-year-old Tulare man dead at the scene of the accident. His 36-year old passenger, Andrew McBride, also from Tulare, was severely injured during the accident. Another Tulare man was uninjured at the scene and cooperated with the police.

The unidentified Tulare man and McBride were driving westbound on Avenue 264 in a 2009 Ford pickup truck when they came to a stop sign at the intersection of Road 164. A northbound 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck was approaching the intersection on Road 164.
For reasons unknown, the Ford pulled out in front of the Dodge, causing it to collide with the side passenger door of the truck.
The driver of the Dodge was identified as Willem Du Plessis.
Emergency Medical Services on the scene took McBride to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where his injuries were described as severe and life-threatening. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
