Motor vehicle accidents or traffic collisions occur when a vehicle strikes another, a person, debris, an animal, or stationary objects like a tree, signpost, pole, or mailbox. Crashes can be singular, a two-vehicle collision, or multiple vehicle collision.
Accidents are further classified as auto-pedestrian, auto-bicycle, auto-train, or auto-motorcycle, and some collisions are rear-ended, broadsided, or head-on. The primary causes are mostly the resultant effect of drivers’ negligence, but at other times, external influences contribute.
Traffic collisions lead to minor, severe, or fatal injuries, and it also has legal and financial consequences. A person who faces a criminal charge for his or her role in an accident could also face a civil lawsuit from the victim who wishes to get compensated for the injury suffered.
When the negligent party in an accident dies, the victim can bring a civil action against the person’s estate. Civil lawsuits are usually for wrongful death or personal injury, and the court award damages to the tune of the loss suffered.
