The crash occurred at about 2:45 p.m. Medina was driving a westbound SUV when she struck the deceased at the T-shaped intersection. Paramedics at the scene took the pedestrian to an area hospital, but unfortunately, she passed away.
THE MPD said that Medina stopped at the scene and cooperated with them. There is currently no information on the liability of the driver, or whether the police plan to cite her.
The California Vehicle Code is clear on what a driver should do when there’s an accident. First, the person should resist the urge to panic and remain calm. Next, the driver should park at the scene or the next available place close by.
The driver is then expected to check for injuries or damage to property. When it’s the former, call 911, and try to help the injured while waiting for an ambulance. Cooperate with the authorities, and fill out the accident report if presented with one.
If there’s a liability on the part of the driver, then he or she would need a car injury attorney for legal representation.
