The legal expertise of a drunk driving attorney would be useful after a man allegedly driving while intoxicated narrowly escaped a collision with an emergency ambulance. The incident, which led to the suspect’s arrest took place at night on Monday, May 25, in Wareham, Massachusetts.
The incident began when Wareham Police Officers responding to a single-vehicle crash on Sandwich Road a little past 7:30 p.m., found a man acting aggressively. Police said the man, identified as Alexx Joseph Rezendes, a 22-year-old Wareham resident, was yelling at witnesses gathered at the scene of the crash.

When officers intervened, the suspect reportedly turned his anger on two of the deputies, shouting expletives at them. Investigations conducted at the scene, backed by eyewitness accounts suggested before the encounter, Rezendes was driving erratically on Sandwich. The man reportedly crossed between lanes indiscriminately, according to witnesses.
Rezendes then crossed the dividing line and crashed into a curb before crossing back into his lane and hitting a guardrail. He almost collided with a Wareham EMS Ambulance transporting a patient, but narrowly escaped after the ambulance swerved to avoid a collision. The motorist attempted to drive off after the solo crash but halted after covering a few miles.
Deputies determined Rezendes was under the influence of alcohol. They took him into custody on suspicion of DUI-liquor, and possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. In addition, officials charged him with failure to inspect vehicle, speeding, a marked lane violation, operating to endanger, disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct.
