A report of a car accident from Fresno, California, tells of the tragic death of a young man involved in a single-vehicle crash in the city early on Tuesday, May 5th. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office released the victim’s identity later that day as Alexander Rivera, 21.
The California Highway Patrol said that the crash occurred on Highway 41 in northeast Fresno after the deceased lost control of his car. The accident took place at approximately 2 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway, north of Shaw Avenue.

The preliminary accident report showed that Rivera was driving a 2005 Nissan Maxima at the time of the crash. The vehicle which had three other people inside overturned on the right side of the freeway and went up an embankment.
The impact of the crash ejected the young man from the vehicle, and he ended up underneath it. Rivera had extensive wounds that claimed his life at the scene, and the medics pronounced him dead. The three passengers, aged 18-year-old, sustained minor injuries, and an ambulance conveyed them to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The report of the car accident showed that the CHP suspects that the young man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. They also believe that his passengers had also been drinking. The accident remains under investigation.
The authorities used the crash to reiterate to drivers to avoid drinking and driving. An impaired motorist should seek alternative means of transportation and retrieve his or her vehicle at a later time.
