The trailer was heading in the same direction in front of the Chevy. The collision force caused Barragan’s vehicle to plunge off the right shoulder, down an embankment. The car traveled into an agricultural field where it overturned.
The victim sustained significant injuries and died at the scene. The tractor-trailer’s driver did not suffer any harm, and the individual remained at the scene and reported the accident. The motorist remained until first responders arrived and cooperated with the investigation.
The incident led to the closure of the freeway’s right lane for about three hours. There is no additional information.
The California Vehicle Code provides that when an accident occurs, those involved should stop at the scene or park in the nearest place where traffic won’t get affected. The person who does the latter must return to the crash site and report the occurrence.
The law applies to the person at fault in the accident and the person who has no responsibility but was involved in the crash. Failure to obey the rule is a criminal offense, and offenders would face severe punishments.
