A police pursuit through Pomona on Thursday, March 26, has led to the arrest of 35-year-old Sonya Sifuentes.
Pomona Police Department Major Crimes Task Force Officers were in the area of Garey Avenue and Fernleaf Avenue when they spotted a car that had been reported stolen. Around 12:10 a.m., they tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver, now identified as Sifuentes, sped away.

The chase continued until Sifuentes crashed the vehicle around the intersection of Grand Avenue and Gibbs Street. The vehicle she smashed into was parked near the intersection. There were no occupants in it at the time of the accident.
Sifuentes tried to escape from the officers on foot after the accident but was quickly apprehended.
Sifuentes had one passenger in the vehicle with her at the time of the accident. The man’s identity has not been released to the public at this time. He was treated at the scene by paramedics after complaining of head and leg pain. The reports did not indicate if he was taken into custody or not.
After a thorough search of the vehicle, police found a loaded handgun in the vehicle and the possession of Sifuentes.
The officers took Sifuentes to Pomona City Jail, where she was booked and charged. Once booking her, they found out that she had been arrested recently for gun possession charges. She currently has two outstanding no-bail warrants. At this time, she is currently being held at the jail.
