The aircraft mechanic from Kingsland had almost reached his home when a blue car cut him off as he headed west.
In order to avoid the car, Manuel swerved and skidded. He was ejected from his bike and he estimates he was thrown at least 15 feet into a ditch on the opposite side of the street.
He received nine broken ribs, a broken shoulder blade, and road rash.
Manuel was taken to a Jacksonville hospital for treatment.
He said the car involved in the incident had been parked on a grassy area and it suddenly appeared in front of his bike.
The driver did not stop after the motorcyclist ran off the road. However, an eyewitness called 911.
Manuel, who has hired legal counsel, said his home’s security cameras also caught the vehicle driving away.
His attorneys are trying to get the video enhanced in an effort to see the license plate.
In the meantime, Manuel is asking the motorist or anyone who can identify the vehicle to come forward.
He said the experience was the scariest one of his life and he was concerned about his ability to provide for his family.
