While traveling on the one-lane section, the car bumped into Lev, causing the scooter to wiggle back and forth. The woman landed on the floor, and the driver fled the scene without stopping or rendering help to her.
The victim broke her pelvis in two different areas, and medical personnel attached two bars to her hips. Lev also suffered a painful road rash and a broken tooth, and her recovery is expected to take time.
The woman described the vehicle that struck her as an older model maroon sedan. The San Diego Police Department is actively searching for the hit-and-run driver and car, and witnesses can reach them on the listed line.
Under the California Vehicle Code, a hit-and-run accident occurs when a person leaves the scene without making an accident report or rendering help to anyone injured. Those who have no liability in a crash but left the scene before the emergency responders arrive would also answer for this offense.
