Officers responded to a report of a crash at Western Avenue and Wilcox Street. The crash report showed that while the policemen spoke with Ross, he had difficulty responding coherently and could not answer questions.
The police said the man started behaving erratically and threw things from his car into the street. Ross eventually drove away and kept going, while officers chased him. When he got close to the intersection of Buell and Woodworth, he stopped the vehicle.
A brief struggle ensued between the suspect and the officers, but they eventually took him into custody. They charged the 400 block of Oakview Avenue resident with aggravated DUI, aggravated resisting a peace officer, attempted fleeing/eluding a peace officer, and driving while license was revoked.
The police said that a Joliet Fire Department ambulance took the man to AMITA St. Joe’s Hospital for evaluation because of his intoxication level. Medical personnel discharged him around 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13th, and officers booked him into jail.
