The Los Angeles socialite who killed two minors in an accident in Westlake Village, California, pleaded not guilty to two counts of vehicular manslaughter during a court appearance last week. Rebecca Grossman, 57, paid the $2 million bail bond and was released from jail.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department alleged that the woman drove while under the influence of alcohol. They said that while in that state, the defendant struck and killed brothers, Jacob Iskander, 9, and Mark Iskander, 11, at Triunfo Canyon Road and Saddle Mountain Drive.

The accident report showed that around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29th, the brothers walked with their family in a designated crosswalk. The police said that Grossman’s white Mercedes and another vehicle sped towards the crosswalk, and she struck the minors.

The victims’ mother, who was pushing a baby stroller, managed to pull a third child off a scooter moments before the collision. One of the boys died at the scene, while the other passed away hours later in a hospital.

The woman and her other children were unharmed. The sheriff’s department Capt. Salvador Beccera said that they found Grossman’s vehicle approximately half a mile from the crash site, leading to the belief that she fled the accident scene.

The Mercedes had front end damage, and the police placed the defendant under arrest. The woman is known for her philanthropic work with the Grossman Burn Foundation and has received several commendation awards.

In a press release, West Hills Hospital, the home to the burn center, said they are saddened by the tragedy and extended their sympathy to those affected. Grossman is due in court for her next appearance on Wednesday, October 21st. The other vehicle remains at large.
