Auto-pedestrian accidents are not uncommon on California’s roadways, and they are steadily growing from bad to worse. According to the Cal-Office of Traffic Safety, more people walking to several places, as an alternative to driving, are among the leading causes of this type of collision.
Drivers and pedestrians share the faults in crashes and must work together to promote safety on the roadways. To achieve this, pedestrians must avoid dangerous road behaviors like jaywalking and texting while walking.
Walk on sidewalks, use designated crosswalks to cross, and do so only after carefully looking at both sides of the road. Drivers should yield the way to pedestrians, drive within the speed limit, and stop at crosswalks.
