A man was sentenced to six to twenty years in prison for causing a fatal crash in Lake Tahoe.  A court pronounced the sentence on Tuesday, September 22. The convicted man was identified as Jarrad Dominguez, 41, of Winton.

Dominguez had been driving under the influence in Lake Tahoe when the incident occurred. On June 13, 2019, he was traveling along the U.S. Highway 50 when he went across the center line. This brought him into a head-on collision with another vehicle. The collision took place close to Zephyr Cove in Nevada.

The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Hugo Parro Soliz. Soliz sustained critical injuries in the collision and died. Dominguez was taken into custody following the incident. Investigations revealed that he was under the influence of methamphetamine when he caused the fatal crash.

In a verdict pronounced this Tuesday, a court has now sentenced Dominguez to be sent to a prison for a period of 6 to 20 years. He is due to be extradited from Nevada to California. The court has also asked him to pay the extradition costs plus a $2,000 fine.

According to the details shared by the defense attorney at the hearing, this isn’t the first time Dominguez has been charged with driving under the influence. He has previously been charged with multiple offenses, many of them involving DUI.

It isn’t clear when Jarrad Dominguez’s prison term is due to start. Subsequent accident reports may reveal a specific date in this regard.
