A tragic crash that occurred in Tracy on Friday, September 18, resulted in the death of four persons. The deceased included two male victims and two females as per the accident reports. One of the male victims was identified as Treyvon Breckenridge, a teen who had recently launched his own business. Breckenridge formerly played on the football team of the Edison High School.

According to California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred close to the on-ramp to the westbound 205. Breckenridge was in a vehicle with three other persons when a CHP tried to stop it for moving violations. Instead of stopping, the driver sped off. It isn’t clear whether Breckenridge was driving.

As the driver fled, a police chase ensued. However, the officer pursuing the car briefly called off the chase. The vehicle drove across the Tracy Boulevard and as its driver was trying to get back the westbound 205 on-ramp, he appears to have lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The second male traveling in the vehicle was identified as Donald Edwards. The two females in the vehicle were identified as Patterson High School students.

All four occupants of the vehicle sustained critical injuries in the collision. As paramedics and first responders arrived, attempts were made to perform life-saving measures. However, all four succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.

The fatal crash happened five minutes after the CHP trooper called off the pursuit. Subsequent accident reports may shed more light on how and why the crash occurred.
