The female driver then struck the man’s car from behind, leaving him with moderate injuries. Medics conveyed Yates to Enloe Medical Center for treatment. Howard complained of pains, and the CHP said that drugs or alcohol do not seem to have factored in any capacity.

The report did not disclose if the woman got cited for the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and there’s no additional information at this time.

A rear-end is one of the common types of accidents and one of the leading causes of crash-related deaths. Other types of traffic collisions are head-on and broadsided collisions, and they occur when drivers go too fast, run red lights, go off their lane, or weave in and out of traffic.

Investigators often look at the person with the highest liability when a collision occurs to bring a charge recommendation to the District Attorney. Standard charges associated with accidents cover vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run, driving under the influence, or failure to reduce speed to prevent an accident.
