The Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Flores said that by the time firefighters arrived at the scene, Hoefs had passed away. They found a second person trapped in the vehicle involved in the crash and had to extricate him.

Flores said that they successfully freed the person after 40 minutes and transported the victim to the hospital for treatment. At the time of the update on Monday, there was no information on the individual’s condition.

Vehicle crashes are in different types depending on the facts and circumstances of each offense. The common types are single-vehicle crashes, two-vehicle or multiple-vehicle collisions, and the last two can either be a head-on collision, rear-end collision, or broadside collision.

Factors leading to any of the above cover speeding, impairment, driving distracted, running through red lights and traffic signs, wrong-way driving, and weaving in and out of traffic. Others are lane splitting, adverse weather conditions, adverse road conditions, tailgating, mechanical defects, and an underlying medical condition.
