On Tuesday, July 21st, Cook County prosecutors charged the man who caused an accident while under the influence of PCP in Archer Heights, Illinois. Luis Alverado, a 41-year-old man with a criminal history, would need a car accident attorney’s services.

The suspect admitted to being under the influence of the drug, speeding, and slamming into the car of an older woman on Sunday, July 19th. The crash report showed that at about 4:45 p.m., Alverado headed south on Cicero Avenue on a suspended driver’s license.

He allegedly drove his Chevrolet Malibu through a red light at Archer Avenue at 76 miles per hour, causing him to slam into the Honda Prelude driven by 76-year-old Patricia Wickers of Gage Park. The crash’s impact was so severe that it split the victim’s car almost entirely in half.

The prosecutors said Tuesday that the crash ejected the woman from the car and threw her across the intersection. Wickers passed away at the scene, and the autopsy report released on Monday, July 20th, disclosed that she died from her injuries, and the Cook County Coroner ruled her death an accident.

Alverado crashed into other vehicles before resting, and then he exited his car and stood on the sidewalk. Several witnesses placed him as the person behind the wheel of the Chevrolet, leading to his arrest. The suspect is facing a reckless homicide charge, and the results of the toxicology test would determine the severity of the DUI charge he would face.

Judge John F. Lyke Jr. of the Circuit Court of Cook County described the allegations as totally horrendous and placed the man’s bail at $250,000. He also ordered that if the suspect makes bail, he should be on electronic monitoring.
