The motorcyclist who lost his life in an auto-motorcycle crash in Visalia, California, has been identified. The updated accident report released on Tuesday, July 7th, named John Bolin as the fatal victim of the Thursday, July 2nd, occurrence.
The crash report showed that the incident occurred at the intersection of Caldwell Avenue and West Street at about 9:30 p.m. The events leading to the collision began with Bolin riding a motorcycle eastbound on Caldwell. At the same time, a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Bryan Buhl was heading west on the same roadway.

The driver failed to obey a red light on West Street and attempted to make a U-turn. While doing the latter, he struck Bolin’s motorcycle, ejecting and injuring him in the process. When paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying on the roadway and conveyed him to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where he succumbed to his wounds.
The Visalia Police Department said the man had a green light at the time of the crash, and officers determined that Buhl was driving under the influence. They placed the driver under arrest and booked him into the Tulare County Pretrial Facility. The motorist is facing charges of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
He is also charged with DUI causing injury, DUI over .08% blood alcohol concentration causing damage, misdemeanor driving when privilege suspended with prior convictions, and misdemeanor unlawful vehicle operation. The accident remains under investigation, and there’s currently no additional information.
