On Saturday, July 4th, the Santa Ana Police Department arrested Jonathan Padilla hours after he fled the scene of an accident in Santa Ana, California. He would need the expertise of a car injury attorney.

The suspect allegedly struck and killed a man in the 2400-block of South Fairview Street. The police received a 911 call of the crash at about 1:20 a.m., and when they arrived at the scene, Padilla was nowhere in sight. A preliminary investigation uncovered that he was driving south on Fairview Street when the collision happened.

The pedestrian suffered significant injuries, and he passed away at the scene as medics performed life-saving aid on him. The investigators will release his identity after notifying his next-of-kin.

A little while after, the officers located Padilla’s vehicle a short distance from the crash site, but he was not inside. The information found in the car led the SAPD to his home, where they found and placed him under arrest on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

The investigators booked him into the Santa Ana Jail, and there’s no information on his bail bond. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone who witnessed the accident should contact the SAPD on the listed line.

A hit-and-run is a criminal offense in California, and prosecutors try it either as a misdemeanor or felony depending on the circumstances of the case. A convicted person faces imprisonment and fine.
