Officers arrived at the scene at about 5:10 p.m. to find the man critically injured. They transported him to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he passed away five hours after his arrival. The preliminary investigation uncovered that a 22-year-old man behind the wheel of a 2015 Dodge Ram was heading south on Maryland.
Suddenly, a Toyota Corolla turned left on the road in front of the pickup, striking the driver’s side. The coroner ruled Alvarez’s death an accident, and the PDS said it is the 39th traffic-related fatality the city has recorded this year.
Motor vehicle accidents are one of the leading causes of deaths in Las Vegas and the United States. Factors that lead to collisions are easily avoidable if road users follow safety tips, and traffic rules and regulations. Some of them are driving within the speed limit, maintaining a single lane, and driving without impairments of drugs or alcohol.
